It was another beautiful sunny day for Katy & Gary’s wedding at Crowcombe Court in Somerset. There was a bit of a chill wind blowing in the morning but this soon passed and the sun really started to warm up the place.
The old wooden rooms with massive beds provided a perfect setting for the bridal preparations – the (almost) full length windows bathed the rooms in a beautiful light. With Gary also getting ready at Crowcombe Court I could easily switch between both of them to get plenty of shots during the morning.
There were a couple of very shy flower girls – which led to some very cute photos. I always try to capture children doing what they do best, and they certainly did that today.
Although the best man was a little late on arrival, I managed to capture some wonderful informal shots along side the few formals I usually get before the ceremony starts.
Once everyone was ready, and all the preparations for the venue had been complete – we were all set for the ceremony. As the weather was so beautiful – Katy with her father, followed by bridesmaids and flower girls made their way around the outside of the house to enter through the main door. I could see that Gary had the usual nervous excitement I see in every groom. Katy looked absolutely stunning when she entered the main room of Crowcombe Court, and the light falling in from outside created beautiful photos.
Throughout the service Katy could not stop smiling – and it was wonderful see such a happy couple in love, if also gave me wonderful opportunities for beautiful photos. It was a wonderful ceremony and I had prime spot at the front to capture all the moments.
Once outside we ran through a few formal group shots, and got into some mingling. Katy and Gary have such a wonderful group of family and friends and it was great to wander between them capturing some ad-hoc shots of people enjoying themselves. However, the best shots were of the bridal party at the end of the main driveway with the house in the background. Add to this a great group of friends and you get some amazing photos.
Finally we finished off with some shots of Katy and Gary on their own before heading back to join the party. There was still plenty of time for mingling and chatting to guests while I photographed the tables, decorations and cake.
After the speeches were finished the sun had started to go down and the light was so beautiful I took Katy and Gary off to the pond to get some early evening shots – which turned out amazing. The beauty of photographing in the early evening is the light – it has a wonderful gold colour, and creates beautiful shots when the light is behind the subject giving a back-lit glow to the subject.
There was more mingling before the evening party began so everyone had plenty of time to catch up with old friends and family that had not been seen for a while. I could see from the guests that it was going to be a great party – although the little bridesmaid did find the music a bit loud.
I wish them both well for the future, they are such a kind, lovely couple.
